KD sincerely thanks all donors and participants at the Hike-a-thon (10/15/2011 )
The event was a huge success with more than 60 hikers and raised over $3500. The following are the our corporate sponsors:
A short write up by our fellow hiker Hong Luong:

Aside from the perfect weather we had after days of endless raining, the day of the hike was just perfect. A picture says a thousand words and we have hundreds of pictures, and some videos, just to try to capture the experience we all came together for the very first time with this event.

We not only met our goals but double the expectations. The hikers came with great spirits, laughed and trek through what seems like an enchanted forest. Even spectators, who weren’t with our group, were fascinated by all the commotions and asked what we were here for. When they found out, their face lit with such a gleam and simply shouted ‘good for you guys!’

Yes, it was a great day for all of us. When we reached our destination in high altitude with Mother Nature, as if heaven was on earth, to share our glory of our accomplishments. They came not only from our hearts and our souls, but also our determination for the good of society.

This would not have been possible without all the support and donations from our sponsors who were there in spirits. We will spread their kindness to our friends, family, and our networks for their generous donations. FEEDING AMERICA will receive another helping hand this holiday. Those aren’t fortunate to have the warmth of a family but will have the support of an extended family, such as ours, who are constantly thinking of ways to help those in need.

Hike-a-thon Benefits Feeding America in Fighting Against Hunger (10/15/2011 )
Official Press Release

Ket Doan Association-Vietnamese American United will host a Hike-a-thon at White Oak Canyon Trail (Shenandoah Park) on October 15, 2011. To fight against hunger across America, especially during the Holiday season, Ket Doan Association will donate all money raised from the event to Feeding America.

“In many ways, America is the land of plenty. But for 1 in 6 Americans, hunger is a reality. Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days. In 2009, 43.6 million people (14.3 percent) were in poverty, 50.2 million Americans lived in food insecure households, 33 million adults and 17.2 million children.” Facts and statistics at www.feedingamerica.org

We would like to request for your support through participation and/or donation to make this event successful. Your generosity will definitely impact our effort in the fight against hunger.

Haiti Relief Effort (01/16/2010 - 01/23/2010)

Within the last two weeks, Ket Doan has raised $4,070.25 to help with the relief effort in Haiti. Ket Doan adds another $929.75 from our Disaster Fund, which totals up to $5000 even. Thank you volunteers for standing at Eden Center for 3 days 1/16, 1/17 & 1/23 with donation boxes. Most importantly, thank you Donors for making this fund raising project a success.

(Unicef Receipt) 100% of the fundraise was sent to UNICEF (website) to aid Haiti in the recovery process - but more significantly to help the Children as they are always the most vulnerable population in any natural disaster, and UNICEF is there for them. Please continue to support this effort as it is certainly not over yet!
